Nicki Minaj Is Beautifully Regal On November's W Magazine (PHOTO)
We've seen Nicki Minaj in almost every outfit imaginable at this point. We've seen her hair do things we didn't know hair could do. And now we're seeing Nicki going chameleon once again on the EPIC cover of November's W Magazine. The "Super Bass" singer got all Art History 110 on us -- think Mona Lisa with a hint of Salvador Dali. I think this is what Rachel Zoe is talking about when she says "BA-NANAS."
For the November issue, artist Francesco Vezzoli transformed the usually neon-clad Nicki into a series of powdered 18th-century courtesans. Because yes, when I hear the lines, "Excuse me, you're a hell of a guy/I mean, my, my, my, my, like pelican fly," I also think about the French Revolution. As for why Vezzoli wanted to portray Nicki in this light, he reveals, "My idea was to reproduce four iconic portraits of some of the most fascinating females of the past in a series starring an American pop-culture role model." Fashion, guys. It's pretty cool sometimes.
